Welcome to the United States of America!
Staley Credit Union, a not-for-profit financial cooperative headquartered in Decatur, Illinois, welcomes all of the international students at Millikin University. We are just a short walk or drive from the MU campus at 1234 West Eldorado Street, across from the Calvary Cemetery and the MU football field, as well as right next to the CVS Drug Store. We have several great staff members ready to serve you and answer any questions you might have. Also, as a member of Staley Credit Union, you have free around-the-clock access to the ATM on the north side of the building.
- Your first step will be to come to the branch to open your share account. That’s the basic account that will give you access to all the products and services of Staley Credit Union. You will need to bring two valid forms of identification with you when you open the account. Your passport and your MU student ID should provide adequate identification.
- Your second step will be to open a checking account. Your checking account will give you a place to deposit any money that you receive, such as financial awards, money sent from home or a paycheck from a part time job. Your checking account will also give you a place from which to withdraw funds with a check or at an ATM. You will receive a debit card which you can use to pay for things at local stores or wherever you happen to be. You will also use your debit card as your ATM card. Using a debit card reduces the need for you to carry cash. There is no fee for the checking account or for the debit card.
- We greatly encourage you to use online banking and mobile banking. These allow you to monitor your accounts and all of the activity in your accounts. If you are expecting a wire transfer of funds from home, you will be able to watch for it and know when those funds are available for your use. There is no fee for the online banking or mobile banking.
- Unlimited incoming wire transfers are available to you as an international student at Millikin University. Wire instructions can vary depending on the currency and the country of origin. Our branch staff will work with you to make sure you have the correct information to pass along to your family at home. There is no fee for incoming wire transfers. If your family sends you money in US Dollars (USD), the wire instructions are as follows:
