Reasons to Test/Change Browser Settings
Some users may find that the browser they are using is not behaving the way it normally does. For instance, a user who logs in easily every day may report that they suddenly cannot log in. Or maybe a user reports that he is prompted to enter his user name and password more than once, even though he entered it correctly the first time. It is not always easy to determine the source of a browser setting problems, but there are things that a user can do to try to remedy such problems.
Test Your Browser's Compatibility
Below are descriptions of procedures contained on this site. Users should consider these options to resolve browser problems in Staley Online Banking when no other causes seem probable.
Supported Browsers
To determine what browser and version you are using follow these simple instructions:
- Open your browser.
- At the top, click on HELP.
- Select ABOUT (Name of Browser).
- Help will display the version of the browser you are using. Click on OK to exit.
Enabling Java Scripting
Java Scripting is one of the programming languages that is used to create Internet Banking pages. In order for the product to function properly in the user's browser, Java Scripting must be enabled.
Enabling Cookies
A cookie is a piece of text that a web server can store on a user's hard disk. Cookies allow a web site to store information permanently (with persistent cookies) or temporarily (with session cookies) on a user's machine and later retrieve it. AXIS® e-Commerce sites use persistent cookies, while Internet Banking uses session cookies. In order for the products to function properly, cookies must be enabled in the user's browser.
Clearing Cache (also known as Temporary Internet Files)
The Cache or Temporary Internet Files folder is the location on the hard disk where Web pages and files (such as graphics) are stored as they are viewed. This speeds up the time it takes to display the information because the browser can open them from the hard disk instead of from the Web.
If a user is having problems viewing a web page or logging in, it's possible that she is viewing an old version of the page from the cache instead of the current version from the web. If this is suspected, the user should follow instructions for clearing Cache or deleting Temporary Internet Files. Clearing the Cache/Temporary Internet Files also automatically deletes the cookies.
Removing Saved Passwords
Some browsers have the capability of "remembering" passwords for sites that require a user ID and password. If a user wants to erase all of the passwords that the browser has stored in memory, he should follow the procedures for deleting saved passwords.
